Sullivan Ends Primary Bid Against Nadler, Vows to Fight on Over Impeachment

July 22, 2008

New York, NY Adam Sullivan announced today that he will no longer actively seek to unseat Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-8) in the September Democratic primary, but he will continue his fight to persuade Nadler and the Congress to initiate impeachment hearings against the Bush Administration.

In a press conference held outside the U.S. Post Office in Manhattan, Sullivan explained that he did not mention to his campaign staff that he had changed his enrollment from unaffiliated to Democrat at the start of the campaign, incorrectly assuming that his change of enrollment would be current at the time his petitions were filed. Members of his campaign assumed that he was a properly enrolled Democrat. According to New York state election law, Sullivan would have had to have changed his enrollment by October 12, 2007 to run in this year’s primary. “I regret if I have let down my supporters but given the rules I cannot in good faith continue this campaign through to the primary,” Sullivan said.

Sullivan Files Ballot Petitions to Challenge Nadler in Key Democratic Primary on Issue of Impeachment

Submitted by Jim McCabe on 2008, July 11 - 2:18am.

July 11, 2008 NEW YORK, NY Adam Sullivan formally set the stage for a showdown with Democratic incumbent Jerrold Nadler (CD 8) by filing in excess of the required number of petition signatures with the New York City Board of Elections, placing his candidacy on the Democratic primary ballot. Immediately following the filing, Sullivan issued a challenge to Nadler to publicly debate the issue of impeachment.

“I challenge Rep. Nadler to come before his constituents in a public forum and defend his position opposing impeachment hearings. The President and Vice President have both committed high crimes and misdemeanors for which they must answer before Congress,” said Sullivan. “For my part, I will argue that impeachment is essential to protect the Constitution.”

Nadler Challenger Pays Tribute to the Constitution on July 4th

Submitted by Jim McCabe on 2008, July 5 - 11:04pm.

Friday, July 4, 2008, New York, NY

Adam Sullivan, who is challenging Representative Jerrold Nadler for the Democratic nomination in New York’s 8th Congressional District, observed Independence Day by honoring the Constitution.

Sullivan joined noted civil rights attorney Norman Siegel, State Senator Bill Perkins, the Granny Peace Brigade and Reverend Billy of the Church of Stop Shopping for the annual reading of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and Bill of Rights at Strawberry Fields in Central Park.

Campaigning on the promise that, if elected, he will uphold the Congressional Oath of Office “to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic,” Sullivan contends that Nadler has broken his Oath of Office—an oath he has taken eight times—by refusing to pursue impeachment against President Bush and Vice President Cheney.

(June 11, 2008, New York, NY) Adam Sullivan, candidate for Congress challenging Rep. Jerrold Nadler in the Democratic primary in New York’s Eighth Congressional District, voiced his support for the Articles of Impeachment introduced by Congressman Dennis Kucinich against George W. Bush.

Mr. Sullivan, who is mounting a well-organized challenge to the incumbent, stated, "The residents of the 8th Congressional District have demanded action against the Bush agenda for years, and have been disappointed by the House and Senate, no matter which Party held the majority.”

Sullivan continued: “I support Mr. Kucinich’s articles of impeachment and full accountability for this reckless and criminal administration. Furthermore, I challenge the members of the House to fulfill their Oaths of Office immediately--to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic."
